Modi College Wins Punjabi University Inter College Overall Boxing Championship
Multani Mal Modi College has won the Punjabi University Inter-College Overall Boxing (Men and Women) Championship held at Polo Ground, Patiala. This championship was hosted by the college under the guidelines of Punjabi University, Patiala. College won the Men Championship by defeating the team of Guru Kashi Talwandi Sabho by 17 points. College has also won first position in Boxing Championship (Women) by defeating Akal College of Physical Education, Mastuana.
The college Principal, Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the winning teams in the college campus and congratulated the team members. He assured that college will keep on providing the best facilities to the college sports persons.
Dr. Nishan Singh, Dean, Sports of the College congratulated the winning teams and informed that in Boxing (Men) team Karanvir Sharma (69 kg weight category), Akashdeep (75 kg weight category) and Robinpreet Singh (81 kg weight category) won Gold Medals, while Gurpreet Singh (52 kg weight category), Ankit (91 kg weight category) and Sukhjinder Singh (91+ kg weight category) won Silver Medals, whereas Tarun (49 kg weight category), Riyasat Ali (56 kg weight category), Mahesh Rana (60 kg weight category) won Bronze medals in their respective weight categories.
In Boxing (Women) Championship Ekta Saroj (48 kg weight category) and Vishakaha (51 kg weight category) won Gold Medals, while Ajma (60 kg weight category), Priyanka Sharma (75 kg weight category) won Silver Medals, whereas Riya (57 kg weight category) and Manpreet Kaur (69 kg weight category) won Bronze medals in their respective weight categories. He also appreciated the other team members of winning teams.
Maharaja Ranjeet Singh Awardee and International Boxer Sh. Harpal Singh, SP (City) Patiala was also graced the occasion and appreciated the sports persons. College Principal thanked Boxing Officials Sh. Santosh Dutta, General Secretary, Boxing Federation of India (Northern and Punjab), Mrs. Lakshmi, International Boxing Referee and Observer Mrs. Renu Bala. He also applauded the sincere efforts of Dr. Nishan Singh, Head, Sports Dept., Dr. Harneet Singh and Prof. (Ms.) Mandeep Kaur.

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਧੀਨ ਪੋਲੋ ਗਰਾਊਂਡ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਤਰ-ਕਾਲਜ ਬਾਕਸਿੰਗ ਚੈਂਪੀਅਨਸ਼ਿਪ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਅੰਤਰ-ਕਾਲਜ ਬਾਕਸਿੰਗ ਚੈਂਪੀਅਨਸ਼ਿਪ (ਲੜਕਿਆਂ) ਵਿੱਚ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ 29 ਪੁਆਇੰਟ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾਸ਼ੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਤਲਵੰਡੀ ਸਾਹਬੋ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ 17 ਪੁਆਇੰਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਚੈਂਪੀਅਨਸ਼ਿਪ ਜਿੱਤੀ। ਅੰਤਰ-ਕਾਲਜ ਬਾਕਸਿੰਗ ਚੈਂਪੀਅਨਸ਼ਿਪ (ਲੜਕੀਆਂ) ਵਿੱਚ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ ਅਕਾਲ ਕਾਲਜ ਆਫ਼ ਫ਼ਿਜ਼ਿਕਲ ਐਜੂਕੇਸ਼ਨ, ਮਸਤੂਆਣਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾ ਕੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਪ੍ਰ਼ਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਜੇਤੂ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਲਜ ਪਹੁੰਚਣ ‘ਤੇ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਮਾਣ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਾਲਜ ਦਾ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਡੀਨ, ਸਪੋਰਟਸ ਡਾ. ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਬਾਕਸਿੰਗ ਟੀਮ (ਲੜਕਿਆਂ) ਦੇ ਜੇਤੂ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਬਾਰਕਬਾਦ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਟੀਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰਨਵੀਰ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ (69 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ), ਅਕਾਸ਼ਦੀਪ (75 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ) ਅਤੇ ਰੋਬਿਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ (81 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ) ਨੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਤਗਮੇ ਜਿੱਤੇ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ (52 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ), ਅੰਕਿਤ (91 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ) ਅਤੇ ਸੁਖਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ (+91 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ) ਨੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਤਗਮੇ ਜਿੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਤਰੁਨ ਕੁਮਾਰ (49 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ), ਰਿਆਸਤ ਅਲੀ (56 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ) ਅਤੇ ਮਹੇਸ਼ ਰਾਣਾ (60 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ) ਨੇ ਤਾਂਬੇ ਦੇ ਤਗਮੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀਤੇ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਬਾਕਸਿੰਗ ਟੀਮ (ਲੜਕੀਆਂ) ਵਿੱਚ ਏਕਤਾ ਸਰੋਜ (48 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ), ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਾਖਾ (51 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ) ਨੇ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਤਗਮੇ ਜਿੱਤੇ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਜਮਾ (60 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ) ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਿਅੰਕਾ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ (75 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ) ਨੇ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ ਤਗਮੇ ਜਿੱਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਰਿਆ (57 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ) ਅਤੇ ਮਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੌਰ (69 ਕਿਲੋਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਵਰਗ) ਨੇ ਕਾਂਸੀ ਤੇ ਤਗਮੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀਤੇ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਾਕੀ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਜੇਤੂ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਮਹਾਜਾਰਾ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਵਾਰਡੀ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਬਾਕਸਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ, ਐਸ.ਪੀ. (ਸਿਟੀ) ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਚੈਂਪੀਅਨਸ਼ਿਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਖਿਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਹੌਂਸਲਾ ਅਫ਼ਜ਼ਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ। ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਨੇ ਬਾਕਸਿੰਗ ਆਫ਼ਿਸ਼ਿਅਲਜ਼ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਸੰਤੋਸ਼ ਦੱਤਾ, ਜਨਰਲ ਸਕੱਤਰ, ਬਾਕਸਿੰਗ ਫੈਡਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਆਫ਼ ਇੰਡੀਆ (ਨਾਰਦਨ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ), ਸ੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਲਕਸ਼ਮੀ, ਅੰਤਰ-ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਬਾਕਸਿੰਗ ਖਿਡਾਰਣ ਅਤੇ ਰੈਫ਼ਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਰੇਨੂ ਬਾਲਾ, ਬਾਕਸਿੰਗ ਆਬਜ਼ਰਵਰ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਡੀਨ ਸਪੋਰਟਸ ਅਤੇ ਸਪੋਰਟਸ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਸਿੰਘ, ਡਾ. ਹਰਨੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਮਨਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਦੇ ਯਤਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕੀਤੀ।
